Vinyl cladding insulation benefits and r-value
Cladding insulation can boost the energy efficiency of your home. Wrap the house in an extra protective layer. With foam-backed cladding boards, you can get many benefits. Like reducing temperature variation and boosting your r-value. The result? A more comfortable home with lower energy bills.
- Boost thermal efficiency
- Reduce indoor temperature variations
- Save on energy bills
- Reduce carbon footprint through lower power consumption
How does foam insulation work?
Vinyl cladding with a foam backing provides a tight layer of insulation by eliminating airflow through gaps. The trapped air between the wall and the external cladding works as an excellent insulator. The inside temperature is more constant, resulting in a home that is cooler in summer and warmer in winter.
What is an R-value?
R-value is defined as the ability of a material to resist heat flow. The better the building retains heat, the higher the R-value. Vinyl cladding, when installed with foam backing in accordance with Australian Standards, should achieve an R-value of three. For maximum energy-efficiency, we recommend using insulation for all walls, windows, floors and roofing.
